Objective:
The Blood Flow of Human Heart Model visually represents the flow of blood through the human heart using an interactive LED circuit. Materials Used:

  1. Printout of Human Heart Anatomy: A detailed and labeled printout showing the heart’s chambers, valves, and blood flow pathways.
  2. LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes): Different colored LEDs are used to represent oxygenated blood, deoxygenated blood, and the flow between different parts of the heart.
  3. Running LED Circuit: A circuit designed to sequentially light up LEDs to show the path of blood flow in the heart.
  4. Power Supply: Battery or USB-powered circuit to drive the LEDs.
  5. Resistors: To regulate current for the LEDs.
  6. IC 4017 Decade Counter and IC 555 Timer: To create the sequential LED lighting effect.
  7. Connecting Wires and Soldering Equipment: For circuit assembly.
  8. Baseboard: A firm platform to mount the printout and LED components.
  9. Switch: To start and stop the LED circuit.

Working Principle:

  1. When the circuit is powered on, the LEDs light up sequentially, representing the flow of blood through the heart’s four chambers (right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, left ventricle).
  2. Red LEDs indicate oxygenated blood flow, while blue LEDs show deoxygenated blood flow.
  3. The sequential lighting illustrates the journey of blood:
    • From the body to the right atrium (deoxygenated blood)
    • To the right ventricle and then to the lungs for oxygenation
    • Back to the left atrium (oxygenated blood)
    • To the left ventricle and then pumped to the rest of the body.
  4. The LED sequence repeats, providing a continuous visualization of the heart’s blood flow.
